GitHub MCP: work on your repos from Claude or ChatGPT
Lodestone is a GitHub MCP server that lets Claude, ChatGPT or any MCP client work with your repositories: search issues, pull requests and code, read files, review a PR with its diff stats and comments, open issues and PRs, commit changes to a branch, and merge. It calls GitHub's API with your own fine-grained token.
Free. No card, no password. We email you a link that sets up your account.
What Claude and ChatGPT can do with it
- Search issues, pull requests and code across GitHub or inside one repository.
- Read any file or folder, and get an issue or a pull request with its comments, reviews and diff stats.
- Open an issue, comment, commit changes to a branch and open a pull request.
- Merge a pull request when you say so.
Try it
Prompt to try:
Go through the open pull requests in my repo, tell me which ones are ready to merge and why, and draft release notes from the ones merged this week.
GitHub uses your own repositories, so there is no recorded demo on this page.
Set up in one link
Connect Lodestone, then add a fine-grained GitHub token once in the dashboard; it only reaches the repositories you pick. Every write is flagged, so your assistant asks before it commits, comments or merges.
- Sign in with your email above. There is no password; you get a link, and your dashboard shows your connector link.
- In Claude: Customize, Connectors, Add, Add custom connector, then paste the link. In ChatGPT: turn on Developer Mode and add a connector with the link.
- Ask your question in a normal chat.
Questions
Is there a Claude GitHub connector, and does it work in ChatGPT?
Yes. Lodestone's GitHub tools work in Claude (web, desktop, phone and Claude Code), ChatGPT, Cursor and other MCP clients from one link. GitHub also has its own MCP server; Lodestone puts GitHub on the same link as the rest of your tools. To connect ChatGPT to GitHub, add the same link in ChatGPT.
How do I connect Claude to GitHub?
Add your Lodestone link as a connector in Claude, then paste a fine-grained GitHub token in the Lodestone dashboard. The token decides which repositories Claude can see.
Can it push code or merge?
Only when you confirm. Commits, comments, new pull requests and merges are marked as writes, and you can switch any of them off.
Does it cost anything?
Lodestone is free. GitHub's own plans and limits apply as usual.
