Lodestone vs Meta's official ads connector
Both run on Meta's official Marketing API, under your own Meta access. Neither is a scraper or a workaround, so the choice is not about safety of method. It is about which assistants it works in, which writes it allows, and what else comes in the same link.
The short version
- Meta's own connector is hosted by Meta at
mcp.facebook.com/ads. Its documentation names Claude Code and ChatGPT, and it goes deeper on ads: catalogs, signal health, A/B tests and conversion lift, activity logs, custom audiences and benchmarks. - Lodestone works in Claude, ChatGPT and Meta Muse from one link, covers the day-to-day ad work (read, create, boost, pause, activate), and puts email, Telegram, Typefully and image and video generation in the same link.
- They are not exclusive. You can connect both.
Side by side
Meta's column is filled only from Meta's own documentation, linked in each row. A blank cell means we did not find it stated there as of 2026-10-09, and we did not guess. Lodestone's column comes from the live tool list.
| Lodestone | Meta's official connector | |
|---|---|---|
| Works in: Claude | Yes. Claude and Claude Code, one link. | Claude Code is documented. [1] Claude on the web is not named there. |
| Works in: ChatGPT | Yes. | Documented. [1] |
| Works in: Muse | Yes. Listed in the Meta Muse directory (details). | |
| Reads: ad accounts, campaigns, ad sets, ads | Yes. | Yes. [2] |
| Reads: insights | Yes: performance insights. | Yes, plus anomaly flags, trends, benchmarks and an optimization score. [3] |
| Reads: Page posts | Yes: meta_ads_list_page_posts. | |
| Writes: create campaigns, ad sets and image ads | Yes. | Yes, created paused. [2] |
| Writes: boost a post | Yes: a Facebook Page post. | An Instagram post (ads_boost_ig_post). [2] |
| Writes: pause or activate | Yes: meta_ads_set_status. | Activate is documented (ads_activate_entity). [2] Pause is not stated. |
| Per-tool off switch | Yes. Each tool can be switched off in your dashboard. | Not stated per tool. Meta announced account-level ads MCP server rulesthat let a business portfolio owner govern what agents can do. [4] |
| Write tools marked as writes | Yes. Every tool is annotated read-only or write, so assistants ask before a write. | Write tools create paused, and your AI client asks for confirmation before activation. [2] |
| Other tools in the same link | Email, Telegram, Typefully (X, LinkedIn, Threads, Bluesky, Mastodon), and image and video generation. | Ads-related only: catalogs, signals and datasets, A/B tests and conversion lift, activity logs, Help Center search. [5] |
| Setup | Paste one link. Sign in with an emailed link, no password. Add your Meta token once in the dashboard. | OAuth through Facebook Login, or a user access token. [1] Owning a Meta app is not required, but the ChatGPT steps ask for an app ID. |
Will it get an ad account banned?
We make no claim either way. What Meta's documentation does say is about rate limits: when an app exceeds its limit, calls are throttled, and for abnormal accounts Meta says it will temporarily reduce the API Rate Limit quota
. [6] That page describes throttling and temporary quota reduction. It does not describe bans.
Both connectors call the same Marketing API, so the same rate limits apply to both. Spreading changes out instead of sending them in bursts is Meta's own advice.
Where each one fits
- Choose Meta's if you work in Claude Code or ChatGPT and need catalog management, signal diagnostics, A/B tests or custom audiences.
- Choose Lodestone if you want the same assistant on Claude, ChatGPT or Muse, a per-tool off switch, or ad work alongside email, Telegram and posting in one connection.
The full tool list for Meta Ads is in the documentation, and the Muse listing is on the Muse page.
